This is an in depth one year programme of study that focuses on Fashion Promotion and Styling, leading to a nationally recognised qualification.
Throughout the course you will cover Fashion Promotion, Visual Merchandising, Fashion Imagery, Marketing, Advertising, History of Fashion, Fashion Illustration, Styling, Photoshop, Portfolio building, Final Major Project and Careers Advice and Guidance. You will also be expected to complete a work experience placement as part of your course.
We have high expectations of all of our students; lessons and workshops are led with a creative approach to build your skills within each subject.
Students that pass with high grades have the opportunity to progress onto some of the most competitive fashion degrees. Lots of support is given in developing your portfolio, preparing you for interviews and the UCAS application process. We have excellent links with leading universities, including UAL – London College of Fashion.
All students compile an A3 portfolio for university or industry interview, showcasing a range of their skills.
What background and qualifications do you need to join? (Entry Requirements)
You will need 5 GCSEs including English and Maths at grades A-C.
or an equivalent BTEC L2 (Merit/Distinction).
It is an advantage if you have previously studied a design or media based subject at GCSE/L2, we do also consider applications from students that have not studied a design or media subject before, who can show they are passionate about fashion and are willing to commit to learning new skills.
Your sketchbooks/portfolios will be assessed at interview or if you have no formal design background we will set you a small written and/or design based task to complete.

What does it lead to?
Completion of the course leads to the majority of students undertaking university places on fashion related courses such as: Fashion Promotion and Communication, Fashion Styling, Creative Direction, Fashion Illustration, Fashion Business & PR etc. Some students opt to seek work directly within the fashion industry.
Where will I study?
Situated at our Hortensia Road site in Chelsea, we are ideally situated within walking distance of some of the best museums and galleries in London.
What are the equipment and facilities like?
Design studio with access to the ICT suite for Photoshop classes.
How much should I study outside class time?
You will need to work as much as you can outside of class time to develop your coursework and portfolio. Our students are fully committed to developing their fashion skills and progress onto some of the most competitive courses at university level. We expect students to be punctual and have full attendance.
How is the course assessed?
Your work will be assessed at the end of each project; you will get regular feedback on your progress in class, as well as in individual and in-group tutorials throughout the three terms.

What books and equipment do students need?
Art materials, papers, pads, portfolio later in the course, access to a camera (digital/or DSLR) An equipment list will be provided on application.
What else do I need to buy? / Are there any additional costs?
All students are expected to supply all of their own materials such as scissors, rulers, craft knife and glue etc. Students will also need to buy their own sketchbooks and invest in a quality A3 Portfolio.
We recommend students read contemporary fashion/design magazines and books related to all aspects of fashion to maintain awareness of current trends. Specific books for each unit will be recommended throughout the course.
What do I need to bring to the interview?
Your sketchbooks/portfolios will be assessed at interview or if you have no formal design background we will set you a small written and/or design based task to complete and bring to your interview. You will also need proof of ID and your most recent exam certificates/predicted grades.
