Course Aims

  • To encourage individual creative thinking through challenging design briefs, visual research and design development.
  • To develop a good & professional standard of practical and technical skills to create final designs in response to a project brief.
  • To establish good working practices and methods.
  • To prepare students for appropriate further study or employment.

What will I learn?

The course has been designed to provide students with the essential skills required to creatively fulfil an interior design brief. The course is hands-on and project based. Through a series of exciting projects, you will learn to research visual material – gather information from a variety of sources-, acquire the principles of planning, ergonomics, furniture layout, use of colour, material and textures. You will develop technical drawing skills – to include plans, elevations and 3D drawings and models to produce finished presentation drawings to include sample boards.

Progression:
Foundation Diploma in Art &Design Level 3
National Diploma or National Certificate in Interior Design level 3
First year Degree in the University (depending of previous qualifications)
Work as assistant in a related business
