This course gives you the opportunity to specialise in one of the following areas: Ceramics, Glass and Jewellery. You will gain hands on practice using glass, clay or metal and get an opportunity to combine materials. A wide range of objects can be made as well as vessels, stained glass panels and jewellery. The course will also explore both functional and decorative designs which could include lighting, cutlery or sculptural works.
Based in our industry-standard specialist workshops and studios, you will work on projects that mirror those in industry, taught by experienced professionals. The course also includes visits to museums, comprehensive careers advice and (for Under-19s) teaching in English, Maths and ICT.
You will explore how to generate ideas, experience the process of creativity and discover what other artists and designers are doing now and in the past. On completing the course you can choose to progress onto a Level 3 Diploma, present your completed portfolio for university, or apply for one of the many jobs in the design industry.
Adults will be required to attend for 2 days a week and Under-19s for three days per week.
