Course Description

1.  Atmospheric skies, landscapes, cityscapes

2.  Dynamic still life

3.  Composition and design

4.  Techniques of colour mixing and glazing

5.  Perspective

6.  Figureative painting

7.  Shadows and colour tempeatures

8.  Traditional techniques i.e. wet into wet, dry brush, wax resists and innovative techniques.

What background and qualifications do you need to join?

No previous experience necessary.

What does the course lead to?

The course is adult education and does not lead to a qualification, however students may go on to have their own exhibitions or it may contribute to their professional careers i.e. interior design, landscape gardening, architectural paintings etc.

Where will I study?

Hortensia studio.

What are the facilities and equipment like?

New standard stuio classroom with good light.

How much should I study outside class?

Going to contemporary exhibitions and observational study outside the class will support your learning.

How is the course assessed?

Individual learning plans and supportive critical evaluative group feedback.

Are any course materials online?

Not yet.

What books and equipment do I need?

1.  Watercolour paints (recommended: White Light/St. Petersburg available at Jacksons Art Shop, Putney Bridge tube).

2.  Watercolour paper 300 gram in weight (recommended: available Arches, green cover in a block).

3.  Pencil 2B and rubber.

What else do I need to buy? / What extra costs are there?

Supply your own brushes.

What do I need to bring to the interview?

No interview necessary.
