Our Fine Art qualification courses provide a unique opportunity for those who wish to begin their artistic careers with a challenging and rewarding period of study.
Their diagnostic nature encourages experiment within project based structures.
You can study on a full time or part time pathway, practising your fine art skills whilst building your portfolio of artwork to assist your progression to higher level study. Integrated support in developing and consolidating your English, Maths and IT skills will be available as part of the full time study programmes for under 19’s.
UAL Diploma in Art & Design continues your development, refining your drawing practice and advancing your independent thinking. This level 3 course supports you in learning a range of techniques and processes that contribute to your strategies for problem solving and creativity. Regular tutorials and individual learning plans together will support your progression to higher level courses or employment.
In the first term UAL Foundation Diploma students have the opportunity to participate in a series of intensive workshops to experiment and generate new work. These include Life Drawing, Printmaking, Sculpture & Photography. As you develop you will be supported in choosing the subject discipline that you find most satisfying and creative. The diagnostic pathways include; Fine Art, Visual Communication, 3D Design and Fashion & Textiles. You will be able to build a portfolio of artwork and are supported in your applications and progression to higher levels of study either at KCC or at university.
Fine Art HNC (Level 4) is a higher level course delivered within the further education environment. To this end you get the best of both worlds. Your own studio space, tutorial support from practising artists who are also experienced teachers and a sense and scale of community that supports your individual development. Many of our HNC students’ progress to Fine Art undergraduate courses at, for example, Goldsmiths, Chelsea, Camberwell, Central St. Martins and London Metropolitan. Some students progress directly to post graduate studies at colleges such as the Royal College or Chelsea.
Our Fine Art Higher National Diploma (Level 5) provides the opportunity for you to consolidate your Fine Art practice technically and conceptually. Focusing on your creative concerns and developmental research you are also supported in curating and exhibiting your work.
On completing the HND, students can continue on to the Fine Art BA (Hons) top up (Level 6), which is externally validated and gain their full Fine Art BA (Hons) at Kensington and Chelsea College.
With studio space, exhibition opportunities, high levels of individual tutorials, expert technical tuition, teaching seminars, lectures, workshops and gallery visits make these courses some of the best in London.
Art materials and model fees are not included in the course fees shown. Basic materials can be purchased from the College. Extra costs will be indicated in the course outline or at an interview/advice sessions.
