Glass (Part Time) Courses

The following courses are designed to meet a variety of student needs from introductory to advanced levels. Our lecturers are all practicing glass artists who also have professional teaching qualifications.

Our large and airy workshop is equipped with the necessary specialist tools and equipment including a sandblaster and a variety of kilns. We stock basic materials which students can buy at cost price as required. Students will need to provide their own protective clothing, files and sketch books. There will be a small additional studio fee to cover the cost of shared materials.

Our team of experienced lecturers will give you plenty of support and you will benefit from learning within a friendly adult environment.

  • Glass Workshop ( 11JAG011 )

    Extend your skills or learn to make 'fused’ and ‘slumped’ kiln formed glass items in the kiln, as well as the traditional techniques of copper foiling and stained glass . All levels welcome.

    Qualification

    A beginners course that will introduce you to stained glass techniques, fusing and slumping decoration techniques as well as exploring creative ideas in your sketchbook. You will make a appliqué glass panel and a kiln formed piece and learn basic skills such cutting, grinding, fusing techniques, sandblasting. Students pay for glass used and a studio fee.

    This course aims to extend techniques and develop personal work and visual identity through individual guidance and support. It is suitable for those who have completed a full time level 3 course or have advanced making skills. Students pay for glass used and a studio fee.

    A taster course suitable for complete beginners or for those who want to learn fusing techniques. It offers the opportunity to explore the stunning reactions that can be achieved by embedding metals in glass. Students will be expected to purchase their glass and some materials (available in the workshop).
