Japanese students visit Kensington and Chelsea College

Kensington and Chelsea College’s Hairdressing Department was joined by international guests from the Habia Hair and Beauty Salon in Japan for an exciting day of demonstrations and workshops.

The all-day event took place at the College’s Kensington Centre on Tuesday October 14.

As part of the day, the Colleges’ Hairdressing and Media Make-up students alongside Habia Japan students were treated to a number of demonstrations including ‘Fashion Hair Up’ by Creative Director and Salon owner Vas Karpetas and Cut &Style by International Educator Sarah Sullivan.

Students were also able to test their skills with live workshops in the College’s state-of-the-art hairdressing salons and theatre.

Industry experts on the day included Sarah Sullivan – a top UK stylist and International educator with over 20 years’ experience; and Vas Karpetas, owner of Billy & Bo Salon in London who has worked all over the world on editorials, catwalk work and celebrities have included Madonna and supermodel Kate Moss.

It is a privilege to be part of an international organisation that continues to grow and strengthen under the guidance of Justin Tellus. As the Director and General Manager of SF Learning, we would like to say a warm thank you for making this event possible. Our celebrity stylists and experts are ambassadors to the industry which has truly inspired our learners. Our students were attentive and full of questions.

Language was definitely not a barrier during the demos and hands-on workshops. The energy felt in the salons and theatre, resulted in some outstanding and skillful work being produced under the careful guidance of our hairdressing educators. We eagerly await the next event in November.Hair & Beauty Course Tutor
