ESOL General Language Courses
You can do general English language courses from Entry 1 (beginners) to Level 2 (advanced) and gain a nationally recognised ESOL Skills for Life qualification . You will develop your listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. All courses include a tutorial so that students have the opportunity to work out an individual learning plan with their tutor. There are also opportunities to work in the computer suite and integrate ICT skills with language work.
Classes are offered at:
- ESOL Entry 1 - Beginner
- ESOL Entry 2 - Elementary
- ESOL Entry 3 - Intermediate
- ESOL Level 1 - Higher Intermediate
- ESOL Level 2 - Advanced
Students who have a particular need to develop reading and writing skills in English will be referred to an ESOL Literacy class at the right level. These courses are called ESOL Reading and Writing.

This course is for second language speakers who have achieved Level 2 ESOL qualifications or are assessed as working at Level 2, who want to do a further English language qualification in order to to be able to apply for Higher Education courses. The IELTS course helps students with academic reading and writing skills and prepares students to take the IELTS exam when they are ready.

Qualification
This full time course is designed to allow young second language speakers to progress towards employment by preparing them for study. Students can achieve ESOL, English, Maths and ICT qualifications at an appropriate level. Employability, citizenship and personal development are also covered and the course will motivate learners to identify their individual and personal strengths for progression to further study and employment.
