Artists Breath Exhibition

Shaima - Peter Stanley Award Winner

Award Winning Artists Collaborate for Special Celebratory Exhibition

An exclusive group of award winning artists are set to unveil their latest work in a special celebratory exhibition being held at Kensington and Chelsea College.

'Artists Breath' brings together a unique collection of art in an exciting exhibition that also pays homage to the late Peter Stanley, the college's former Head of Art.

Peter, who worked for the college for nearly twenty years, died in 2006 but left behind a legacy of accomplished artists who honed their talents under his guidance.

Since his death, Peter's passion and love for art has lived on through the Peter Stanley Memorial Award - an annual college award given to students in recognition of outstanding art work.

'Artists Breath' is an exhibition, which for the first time brings together a collection of sculpture, paintings and installation work by Peter Stanley Memorial Award winners from 2006 to 2010. The show also features one of Peter's last sculptural works.

Guests will have the opportunity to buy the exclusive pieces on show, as well as meet the artists in a private viewing being held on Thursday December 9, from 6.30pm, at the Hortensia Gallery based in Kensington and Chelsea College.

Gill Ingham, the college's Sector Manager for Art, Design and Media, said: 'The exhibition is not only a wonderful tribute to Peter but also a platform to display the brilliant work of former students. The exhibition is one Peter would have been proud of. It is what he strove for, to inspire and nurture artistic talent'

The exhibition is free to attend and runs from December 10-16 2010, at the Hortensia Gallery, Kensington and Chelsea College, Hortensia Road, SW10 0QS.

Gallery opening times are: Monday - Friday, 10am - 5pm.
