Make-up Master Classes 2010
Beauty Students Reveal The Secrets Of Picture Perfect Make-Up!
Looking picture perfect for a fabulous night out just became easier thanks to a series of make-up master classes being held at Kensington and Chelsea College.
Make-up and Beauty Therapy students at the college's in-house Salon, are hosting 10 fun-filled sessions exploring the art of make-up. Each session will be themed with topics ranging from 50's make-up and creating a femme fatale look, to applying false eye lashes and learning about famous make-up artists.
Beauty student Shannon Murphy kicked off the master-classes with a lesson on turning back time. Her session - 'Ten Years Younger' - was packed with advice on how to stay looking younger. A selection of before and after shots also demonstrated make-up techniques and products used to help fill in lines and keep skin looking smooth and fresh.
The popular topic drew lots of questions from the audience ranging from how to pick the right make-up shades to identifying factors that help skin age quickly. Shannon's top tips for keeping skin healthy and supple included drinking plenty of water, reducing alcohol in-take, eating lots of fruit and vegetables and staying off cigarettes.
The 17-year-old from West London, said: 'I wanted to show people how they could use everyday products and simple techniques to minimise lines and wrinkles. The one product I always swear by is mascara as it automatically helps brighten up your face and takes attention away from flaws. It really can be as simple as that. You don't always have to go under the knife or resort to botox. There is a lot that can be achieved just through make-up, leading a healthy lifestyle and looking after your skin with a good cleansing routine.'
Shannon was inspired to do the course at Kensington and Chelsea College after discovering her passion for make-up at an early age. The budding beautician is hoping to land a career as a professional make-up artist. She said: 'I'd love to create looks for catwalks and film shoots. The college is a fantastic place to learn as we are being taught in a fully functioning salon and applying what we learn to real paying clients.'
The free sessions listed below are open to the public and take place at the Wornington Centre Campus. For more information or to book a place please contact the college's Hair and Beauty Salon on tel: 020 7573 5306 or email: hairandbeauty@kcc.ac.uk
