Millinery Courses

We have a national reputation for the high standard of millinery study that we offer. Many of our students have been national and international prize winners and have gone on to become successful professional milliners, showing work at London Fashion Week and other high profile exhibitions. Through our links with many British milliners we can provide work placement opportunities for those who wish to pursue millinery as a career. We are happy to offer flexible programmes of study to meet individual student needs.

    Qualification

    An opportunity to learn core millinery skills, such as blocking, wiring, edging, trimming and finishing on a structured programme. Each term will focus on a different season of hats.

    Level 4

    Qualification

    This one year programme includes a series of projects designed to develop students' creativity and build on existing millinery skills. With a strong focus on design development and specialist couture techniques including hand-shaping, block-making and theatrical millinery. Contextual studies, visual studies and professional practise add breadth to studio work, alongside tutorials, workshops and lectures. There is an additional £20 equipment charge payable in class.

    For those with a keen interest in fashion, this course covers a different area of millinery each term, such as felt hat-making, working with sinamay, straws, trimmings etc. A mixed level group suitable for beginners to intermediates in millinery.
