Disability and Learning Support

Disability and Learning Support

Support

We offer support in various ways: human resources and technical resources. How to obtain support.

Your initial contact should either be your tutor or Reg Cobb, Disability and Learning Support Manager by email or phone 020 7573 5308.

The Additional Learning Support team can offer you the help you need to complete your course successfully. Help may be provided for students with dyslexia, hearing impairment, and visual impairment. The service is confidential and can address your individual needs on a one-to-one basis or in small groups. Your tutor can help you apply for this service or contact Anna Gabryel-Morrison on 020 7574 5224 for information on dyslexia and tutorial support.

Learning materials

Most tutors produce lesson handouts and would be pleased to provide them printed on a particular colour paper, in large or special font, or to give you a disc so that you can make your own adjustments. Audio tapes can also be made available, if requested in advance.

Advice and Guidance

Advice and guidance sessions are held in ground floor or wheelchair accessible rooms. Other arrangements such as induction loop for hearing aid users can be made available if you let us know in advance. Some reception staff are trained to use very basic British Sign Language.

Examination arrangements

Please discuss any arrangements that you may need to take examinations in good time so that we can meet your needs as well as ensure that we follow the regulations by the Examination Boards. Examination time is very busy so ask your tutor to remind the examinations office of any arrangements you have agreed.

Counselling

Information about counselling is available on the general Support Page.

Fund and Travel

There are various local schemes and voluntary organisations that may be able to help with transport and funding. Contact the Information, Advice & Guidance team on 020 7573 5325.

Parking Policy

There are 3 accessible parking bays at Wornington and 4 at Hortensia. If you require parking in an accessible parking bay, it is advisable to notify us in advance, so we can arrange to secure one for you. If all bays are full, we may be able to allocate two standard parking bays for a blue badge holder.

Equal Opportunity

If you would like to know more our full Equal Opportunities Policy or you can obtain it on request from our Skills Centres at Hortensia and Wornington.
