Support while you study
Kensington and Chelsea College would like to ensure that all our students reach their full potential. These are some of the services we offer:
Personal Tutor
Your personal tutor will support you throughout your course by making sure you know what is expected of you, discussing your progress and helping you plan your next steps. Your tutor can also advise you about other college services listed on this page.
Additional Learning Support
Do you have difficulties keeping up with your work? Need support with your English and Maths skills? We have a team of people in the English and Maths (Skills for Life) department and you can join a small class to improve your English and/or Maths or get other support to suit your needs. Help may be provided with other specific requirements such as dyslexia, hearing impairment, and visual impairment. The service is confidential and can address your individual needs on a one-to-one basis or in small groups. Ask your tutor for more details.
Support for Disabled Students
Please check the new Inclusion section of the website for information about the support we offer.
Financial Help
Kensington and Chelsea College has a range of financial help available to students. This includes the Learner Support Fund, Educational Maintenance Allowance (EMA), Transport for London (TFL) and information on charitable trusts.
Educational and Careers Guidance
The Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) team are dedicated to supporting your educational and career needs.
Counselling Service
A team of counsellors is available for students to discuss personal problems in a confidential setting. This may include emotional, practical or motivational problems at home, at College, at work or a combination of these. Sessions are held at the Wornington and Hortensia centres but students attending any College centre are welcome to use the service.
Leaflets with more information are available at all centres. You can contact the senior counsellor by attending one of the advertised drop in times between 12:00 and 1:00 on Tuesdays at Hortensia and Wednesdays at Wornington or by calling 07753 327 390 (mobile). As the Counselling room at Hortensia is not wheelchair accessible, please let the counsellor know if you would like to meet in an alternative suitable room.
Community Learning and Arts
The Royal Borough's Community Learning and Arts service aims to encourage all sections of the local community to take part in learning throughout life. It offers services for children, young people and adults in a wide variety of venues and settings - both formal and informal.
