Student Support
There is an International Office, where students can get help with course information, registrations, payments and advice about visa applications and renewals. The international officer works across the college and students studying at our other centres can make appointments at a centre to suit them. Once you have paid your fees, there are no charges for any of these services.
Help with opening a UK bank account
We can provide you with a letter to help you open a UK bank account. This is often difficult for overseas students, due to strict monetary laws in the UK.
Careers and University advice and guidance
We have an advice and guidance team who will be able to talk to you about the suitability of courses for your chosen career and the UK university application process. You can also check the ‘rating’ of your existing non UK qualifications and ‘translate’ them into something British employers and universities will recognise.
English support
We run workshops, usually between 4.00-6.00pm, where you can get support with your English. These will be small groups and you can take course work or handouts along and a lecturer will help you understand them. We are hoping to offer an IELTS preparation course soon for those who need it. There will be an examination fee payable to take the IELTS test.
Vocational Courses
If you are on a full-time English course and therefore don’t need the English support, you can join a vocational course of your choice, for up to three hours a week each term; subject to your suitability for the class and places being available. There is no additional charge for this if you have paid the full-time student fee.
Counselling
We have a confidential college counselling service. If you have problems of a personal, academic or financial nature, you can request an appointment.
Student Travel Cards
All students who are studying for fifteen hours a week or more can apply for a student travel card. There is an initial fee payable and some forms to complete, but you get around 30% off the cost of buses and the underground.
Libraries
We have Libraries at our main college sites. Here you can use computers, print, access the internet, use and borrow books, magazines, and cds and buy small items of stationery.
