Improve Your Pronunciation – Stage 1

Improve Your Pronunciation Stage 1 is for Upper-Intermediate and Advanced level learners of English and it focuses mainly on vowel sounds but not exclusively.

As with all the Pronunciation courses at KCC, we design our courses with your needs in mind, paying special attention to those aspects of English pronunciation that differ from those in your first language.

We will identify and work on the areas of pronunciation you have most difficulty with and will provide you with solutions and strategies which will make a big difference when trying to sound English and communicate with others.

Functional Skills English

We offer English functional skills courses for adults to develop practical skills that you need to live, study and work.

You will learn to use English and maths in real-life situations through reading, writing, speaking and listening tasks and maths that can use every day. The courses run at our Kensington centre in Wornington Road.

The courses run at Level 1 or Level 2 to support you to move on to GCSE English.

You are welcome to come in to the Kensington Centre on Mondays between 1-3pm for advice and guidance and to take a test to determine your level.

You will work towards the Edexcel Functional Skills qualification.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements but before you enrol you will take a short test with one of our tutors to help us decide what is the best level for you.

If you have already passed a functional skills course and want to study for the next level, please bring your certificates with you when you come in for your test.
