Instrumental Music Courses

Kensington and Chelsea College teach a range of musical instruments for adults seeking to develop music making skills for enjoyment and pleasure. Music lessons range from Guitar, Piano Keyboard, Drums and Percussion, which are all offered as evening classes. The College also offers a BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Music: Musicianship and Performance. This qualification course covers musicianship for the modern Music Industry. All courses are taught within purpose built music classrooms and recording studios.

Throughout the duration of courses, we aim to build confidents. Lessons are dynamic and creative. Students are expected to practice skills learnt outside weekly music lessons. Our tutors are committed to making music accessible for all and take a practical approach to teaching and will introduce students to essential music theory, to ensure long term musical development.

  • Piano Keyboard Lessons: Beginners ( 11GMT001 )

    This part-time evening course is for anyone interested in learning Piano Keyboard playing techniques. The lessons will cover hand positioning/fingering, music theory, chords, major/minor scales and general musicianship. Students are required to practise piano keyboard exercises learnt outside weekly classroom lessons.

  • Blues Guitar Course: Beginners/Intermediates ( 11GMI007 )

    This course is primarily focused on the guitar styles of the Delta Blues greats and will cover; chords playing, finger picking styles, blues scales and strumming patterns, and will also explore alternate tunings and finger techniques. Students are required to bring their own instrument, capo and slides (bottle necks) to classes, and also practice guitar exercises learnt outside weekly classroom lessons.

  • Percussion and Drum Workshop ( 11GMI006 )

    This course is for beginners who want to learn the basics of playing rhythm, percussion instruments and drum kit. Students will learn about rhythm, hand and stick techniques required to play the basic grooves. Emphasis is on learning -The Rhythm Tree- ( from John Stevens "Search and Reflect") for application in all styles of music. Styles covered include Cuban, African and Western grooves for percussion and drums Equipment required: Drumsticks.
