The Music Department at Kensington and Chelsea College offers a range of courses for instrumental musicians and musicians who create beats and sounds on the latest computer technology and software. Students learn music literacy as part of the all courses and develop the language that comes direct from the Music Industry.

These qualifications are recognised by the Music Industry and are up to date and relevant to musicians who wish to find work after graduation.     Level 1

    Qualification

    An introductory course into composing and recording music. You will have the opportunity to develop skills in creating music using technology The course aims to increase your knowledge and understanding of music theory and practice delivered to you by music professionals working in the industry .

    Level 2

    Qualification

    This is a one-year course for individuals with prior experience in music. The course aims to develop individual skills in composing and recording music. You will have the opportunity to develop you creativity and enhance your knowledge and understanding of music theory and practice delivered by musicians, composers and sound recording professionals working in the industry. Using a variety of software and hardware with PC’s, units will cover recording, production keyboard and music business skills as well as creating different genres of music. Progression for this course will lead to a Creative Music Producer Level 3.

    Level 3

    Qualification

    This is a one-year course for individuals with 1-2 years prior experience in music production. The units are focused on broadening knowledge and understanding of music technology. Emphasis is placed on developing and improving a range of music skills including composition, arrangement, sound recording, sequencing and production. The course uses Apple Macs and a variety of different software as well as the recording facilities available at KCC. This qualification id recognised and accepted by universities and other institutions.
