Free Summer Events Hosted By Kensington And Chelsea College

Kensington and Chelsea College is celebrating creativity in London with a programme of free events for the public to enjoy from May to July.

The college has a high-profile reputation for excellence in the creative arts. Its exciting programme of summer events throws the spotlight on the very best of homegrown talent and emerging stars from the world of art, design, fashion, millinery, photography and music.

So if you like exploring cutting edge fashion, finding unique artwork, discovering new music, or uncovering beautiful pieces of bespoke jewellery, then head down to one of the events below for a unique night out!

Sculpture: 2013 Summer Show

Date: May 23rd – 31st

Address: KCC, Chelsea Centre, Hortensia Road, SW10 0QS. The gallery is open 10am – 9pm Monday to Thursday, and Friday 9am – 5pm.

Description: Free to attend. Discover dramatic sculptures and daring installations, each as unique as the artist behind it. Themes explored include feminism, religion and physical disability. The artists will also be hosting a seminar about their work at the gallery on Tues 28th May, from 4pm – 6pm

Fashion & Millinery: The Collections

Date:Tuesday June 4th – Friday 14th (Private view: Thursday 6th)

Address: KCC, Chelsea Centre, Hortensia Road, SW10 0QS. The gallery is open 10am-9pm Monday to Thursday, and Friday 9am – 5pm.

Description: Hats and fashion from the next generation of designers. KCC’s world renowned Millinery Department has nurtured the talents of gifted milliners such as Justin Smith and Mary Jane Baxter, and its end-of-year millinery and fashion exhibition is widely regarded as THE place to be to find the industry’s next big thing.

Fine Art: 39Hours

Date: Private View June 6th between 6.30pm – 9pm. The exhibition runs until June 8th.

Address: Shoreditch Town Hall, 380 Old Street, London EC1V 9LT. The gallery is open 9am – 6pm.

Description: Free to attend. Discover the work of 12 up-and-coming artists hidden in the labyrinth of atmospheric nooks and crannies in the cavernous vaults deep within Shoreditch Town Hall. A truly unique viewing experience!

Fine Art End of Year Show: HNC, Foundation & First Diploma

Date: June 28th – July 6th (Private View June 27th)

Address: KCC, Chelsea Centre, Hortensia Road, SW10 0QS. The gallery is open 10am-7pm Monday to Thursday, and Friday 9am – 5pm.

Description: Free to attend. A bold, daring, and fresh look at fine art through the work of several emerging London artists. Each piece is as individual as the artist. This exhibition is the perfect opportunity to purchase some truly unique pieces of art.

New Designers Exhibition

Art & Design: End of Year Show

Date: June 28th – July 2nd (Private View: June 28th, 6 – 9pm)

Address: KCC, Wornington Centre, Wornington Road, W10 5QQ. The Third Floor Galleries and studios are open to the public at the following times: Thurs 27th 11am – 3pm, Fri 28th 11am – 5pm, Mon 1st July 11am – 8pm & Tues 2nd July from 11am – 4pm.

Description: Free to attend. View beautifully crafted pieces of jewellery, and stunning art and design collections from a range of disciplines including interior and 3D design, glass and ceramics. This vibrant exhibition has it all!

Music: End of Year Show

Photography & Printmaking: Summer Exhibition Including First Step Fine Art

Date: July 18th – 26th (Private View July 18)

Description: Free to attend. Two shows in one. A varied and eclectic approach to images, dipping into a range of modern and old processes to create a candid, moving and thought-provoking exhibition unafraid to push boundaries. An exploration of printmaking from traditional and contemporary, to illustrative and abstract, including installation work, mono printing and photo etch
