Two Design students from Kensington and Chelsea College have been selected as winners in this years ‘Inspired by the V&A Competition.’
Cathryn Shilling was awarded the Glass Prize for her imaginative piece entitled ‘Memory Surfing’ and Shahin Zare-Azirani was awarded the Jewellery Prize for her innovative gold bangle.
Both students were presented with their prizes of £50 in a special ceremony held at the Victoria and Albert Museum, South Kensington on Saturday 9th May. After the ceremony, the audience was invited to view the work at a reception in the museums new Sackler Centre. The exhibition of work is open to the public from 9 to 15 May in celebration of Adult Learner’s week.
Maria Rosenthal Curriculum Leader for Design at KCC says “Not only have we had 2 students selected as overall winners but we had seven students in total shortlisted. Both these national competitions attract large numbers of applicants from colleges and universities alike so I am very proud of our students’ achievements and the lecturers who have supported them.”
