Kensington and Chelsea College has teamed up with The Westway Trust to offer young people a life changing opportunity to break into the creative industry.
The exclusive partnership has secured 16 young people, aged between 16-24, the opportunity to enter a career pathway in Design, Social Media and Digital Marketing, Arts Administration, Technical Engineering or Community Arts, through a 12-month Creative Apprenticeship Programme.
The Westway Trust – one of the first and longest standing social enterprises created in the UK –worked with the College’s Apprenticeship Team, who has links with some of the biggest organisations in the Creative and Cultural sector including the Victoria and Albert Museum, to source candidates for the highly sought after positions.
Those successfully placed into the paid positions will now spend the next 12 months working with a range of creative agencies and organisations across the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea on specific employer defined projects, attending creative workshops and masterclasses and gaining a Level 2 or 3 qualification through the College.
Local employers offering placement opportunities under the Creative Apprenticeship programme are Goldfinger Factory, Tabernacle, Carnival Village, Mencap, Age UK, Open Age, Hip Hop Shakespeare and the Venture Centre.
