KCC Students Stage Free Music Festival At Retro Bar, Westbourne Park
Kensington and Chelsea College students are getting ready to rock West London with a free music show packed with local talent.
Student Live Music Festival takes place on Thursday May 10 and features a string of talented acts from around the college which include a DJ set, pianist, solo singers and bands.
The exciting event is being staged at The Retro Bar, 50 Bosworth Road, Westbourne Park from 2-5pm and has been produced entirely by students on the Creative and Media Diploma course.
Each of the students took on various roles including publicist, sound manager and lighting to bring the event together for their course project. They also teamed up with the college’s music students to source several acts for the show.
Juliana Formicola, College Course Director for the Creative and Media Diploma Course, said: “The project has given the group a real insight into the challenges of staging a live event and how to overcome them with planning and team work. The students have really pulled out all the stops to put on a good show for the audience.â€
The Diploma group, aged between 14 and 16, are released, from St Thomas More School in London, one day a week to attend the two-year Diploma course at the college’s Wornington Campus in West London.
