HNC in Fine Art End of Year Exhibition

HNC Fine Art end of year exhibition

Students from Kensington and Chelsea College’s (KCC) HNC in Fine Art course are showcasing their latest work in their end of year exhibition at the college’s Hortensia Gallery and Carlyle Studios. The show opens with a private view on the evening of June 18th and runs until the 26th June.

The Peter Stanley Memorial Prize for the most outstanding work will be awarded at 7.30pm at the private view. It was created to honour the memory of the late Peter Stanley who pioneered the creation of the HNC Fine Art course. This year, sculptor, Lisa Payne has agreed to judge the Prize. Lisa studied with Peter on the Foundation and HNC courses at KCC, progressed to BA at Chelsea, and then to MA at the Royal College of Art. This year she was successful in gaining a place on the emerging artist scheme at Kingsgate Workshops.

According to Erika Winstone, Pathway Leader who has taught on the HNC course for the past 12 years, the show allows visitors to see how the students have progressed in their artistic endeavours since the earlier mid-term show in February. “This course always produces an extremely high standard of work. We are delighted that this year’s students – as in previous years – have won places on the degree courses of some of the most prestigious art schools in the country.” The schools this year’s students are progressing to include Goldsmiths, Wimbledon, Camberwell, Central St Martins, Glasgow, Chelsea (BA and Post Graduate Diploma), and the Courtauld Institute (MA).

The tutors teaching on the course include Erika Winstone, Jane Eyton, Mark Dean, Maria Zahle, Caroline List, Matthew Kolakowski and Course Director Brian Deighton.

The artists on the course are extremely diverse, in backgrounds, nationalities and ages. We hope visitors to the exhibition will appreciate both the high quality work and the innovative work on show:

Cibele Avarenga, Emer Costello, Justus, Luke Darlison, Hilary Donald, Ferney Duero, Marcelo Duchen Rodriguez, Bruno Giordano, Esperanza Gomez Carrera, Saffron Hewitt, Jillian Knipe, Verica Krsmonovic, Martin Lincoln, Sophie Macdonald, Mindy Maher, Linda Mattock, Rory O’Connor, Liesbet Paterson, Julia Paxman, Sophie Posgate, Laurence Rassat, Rachel Thomson-Glover, Richard Smith, Max Valizadeh, Cocky Visser, and Ian Warner.
