Careers in Art and Design

Kensington and Chelsea College is hosting two Open Days in February offering people the chance to access free 1-2-1 courses and careers advice from subject specialist tutors and qualified careers advisors.

Whether you’re looking for a full-time course for September 2014, or looking to develop new skills through a short course or part-time course, come along to our Open Days to find out about the skills, careers and opportunities a new course could lead to.

Each College centre – Chelsea and Kensington – will be hosting different subjects and activities so please check the table below to find out which Open Day you need to attend.

Kensington Centre Open Day: Tuesday Feb 4th

Music and Music Technology Music rehearsal / meet our students: 4pm-5.30pm
Hairdressing and Beauty Beauty presentation & raffle hosted by students : 4pm-7pm
Have-a-go at creating your own hairstyle and salon tours: 4pm-7pm
Design: Ceramics, Glass, Jewellery, Graphics and Interior Design Meet our students, live classes, design studio tours and student demos: 4pm-7pm
Digital Media and Video Production Photography session: Get tips from the pros: 4pm-7pm
Teacher Training See sample portfolios which will include micro-teach plans and resources: 4pm-7pm

Following our last inspection in 2013, OFSTED stated that the College has “Good teaching and learning in many lessons which benefit from teachers who have considerable specialist experience and expertise”. OFSTED also highlighted our teaching and learning in Art, Design and Fashion as being “…good, and in some instances outstanding…” and that our “Learners enjoy studying at the College and are highly motivated…”

Our students are also taught by award winning lecturers and industry connected experts such as author, TV personality and celebrated milliner Mary Jane Baxter, and award winning jeweller, Kelvin Birk, whose work has been featured in numerous high-profile publications including Vogue and Tatler.
