Kensington and Chelsea College will hold the first ever Artist’s Professional Development Summer Show at Hortensia Gallery from May 5 to 15.
The exhibition will showcase the work of nine artists from many different countries, all part of Kensington and Chelsea.
Their work reflects the cosmopolitan dynamism of London, inspired by nature, the human form, landscapes and vivid abstraction.
The artists include Agata Hamilton, Eleonora Bourmistrov, Tamar Davies, Venice Azadi, Angela Hodkinson, Mary Fane-Gladwin, Heidi Ferid, Sallie Anne Peterson and Eva Bennin. All of the artists are members of the Kensington and Chelsea College’s Professional Artists Group – a studio-based course run for professional artists.
Anjum Moon, course director at Kensington &: Chelsea College, says, “This course gives students the opportunity to exhibit their work publicly and offers help with self marketing and publicity, as well as providing knowledge and support on how to survive as a professional.”
Artist and student Mary Fane-Gladwin says, “The Artist Development course has enabled me to take time out to re-visit my painting and peel away the layers to what is fundamentally important to me. It is an opportunity to relate my work to other areas, such as printmaking and photography. We also have input from professional PR tutor Nairi Sahakian, who instructs on legal aspects on commissioning fine art”.
Private viewing will take place on Wednesday May 6 from 6pm to 9pm.
Hortensia Gallery is located inside Kensington and Chelsea College on Hortensia Road, London SW10 0QX.
