Kensington And Chelsea College Partners With London Hat Week For Special Masterclass

London Hat Week Masterclass

London’s premier College for millinery has teamed up with the organisers of London Hat Week to host a special masterclass exploring the art of hat design.

Kensington and Chelsea College will host ‘Design for Millinery’ on Wednesday March 12th as part of London Hat Week which takes place from March 6th -12th . The two-hour session, led by established couture Milliner Sarah Cant, will take place at the College’s multimillion pound Chelsea Centre by the iconic King’s Road. The session starts at 6.30pm and costs just £1.

Acting as an introduction to the design process for cutting edge hats, guests will be given a presentation on design and development for millinery, as taught on the College’s internationally renowned HNC Millinery course.

The illustrated talk will use examples of work from some of the many professional milliners to have trained on the course, and give insight into how to develop the experimental, practical skills and techniques used to design original contemporary millinery. The event is suited to milliners in training, who are interested in developing their design skills – in particular those thinking of applying to the course in the future.

Kensington and Chelsea College has a reputation for excellence in the creative arts, and has nurtured the talents of many gifted milliners including Justin Smith. The College’s annual end-of-year Millinery and Fashion exhibition is also widely regarded as THE place to be to find the industry’s next big thing.

London Hat Week celebrates every aspect of the art of hat making and wearing in London – the city that is leading the worldwide revival of millinery and hatting.

This year the event is also supporting Brain Tumour Research and the College will be accepting donations on behalf of the charity during the presentation.
