Kensington and Chelsea College has launched its first ever degree top-up programme, offering a competitively priced opportunity to gain a full degree qualification.
Students who have finished a HND or Foundation Degree programme in Fine Art, or a related discipline, can now apply to move on to the top-up programme at the College to gain a BA (Hons) in Fine Art.
The course is not only cheaper than many of its university counterparts, but offers students the chance to study in a location close to many world class arts organisations and museums, many of which the College is already closely connected with.
The new one year programme allows aspiring artists to develop and refine their chosen specialist discipline in a studio setting.
The top-up programme provides an opportunity to study the critical and contextual dimensions of fine art practice supported with tutorials, lectures, seminars and workshops. Students are also encouraged to develop their thinking and understanding to become independent and critically aware practitioners.
As part of the course students will also participate in the College’s end of year degree show testing both the students’ own qualities as artists and their implementation of curatorial and presentational expertise.
After this course you can go on to study an MA qualification or enter employment as a self-employed practising artist, fine art photographer, professional printmaker; or become involved in curating, museum and gallery work, teaching, creative consultation, community arts work, arts management and administration; or other areas of the creative industries including advertising, film and video production, software design or self-employed designer. Employers from a range of industries, who are seeking flexible, self-motivated and creative individuals, seek out Fine Art graduates.
The course starts on the 22nd of September, 2014 and takes place at the College’s Chelsea Centre just off King’s Road.
To be accepted on to the BA Top-Up Programme you must pass an interview with the Curriculum Leader or Course Tutor. To arrange this please visit: https://www.kcc.ac.uk/WebSite/OnlineServices/applications/application.aspx?cid=14TFV011 or contact the College on 0207 573 5333.
