Skills for London Awards

College Staff Mingle With Hollywood’s A-List

Kensington and Chelsea College staff got to pose with Tom Cruise and George Clooney recently at a London based awards ceremony.

Unfortunately the star-studded extravaganza wasn’t quite what it seemed as the A-listers were just wax-work models displayed at Madame Tussauds.

Marian Harbi, from the college’s Employer Solutions Team, was among the guests who got to enjoy this years Skills for London Awards, held at the famed London venue.

Skills For London 2010 gave out 12 awards on the night to celebrate the skills and training activities, including Apprenticeship Programmes, taking place across London.

Among the organisations short-listed for awards was Look Ahead Housing & Care, who were in the running for Apprenticeship Large Employer of the Year.

Listed as one of the Times 100 best companies to work for, Look Ahead Housing & Care works in partnership with Kensington and Chelsea College’s Employer Solutions Team to deliver apprenticeship training opportunities to its employees.

It currently has nine apprentices attending the college on an apprenticeship programme.

Although narrowly missing out on the award, Look Ahead Housing & Care still earned a certificate for being short-listed.

Guest speaker at the event was Lee McQueen, winner of series 4 of the BBC’s ‘The Apprentice’.
