HNC Fine Art student Nina Farrall took centre stage at this year’s HNC Fine Art mid-year show after winning the ‘Best in Show’ prize.
Nina was awarded a voucher with a value of £100 for her exemplary floor situated drawing work “Dive baby dive”. The prize was donated by John Purcell Paper, and presented by John Purcell.
Matthew Kolakowski, Head of Fine Art at the College and part of the judging panel, said: “Nina’s work demonstrated a keenness to defy the boundaries of conventional drawing, not only through its scale and versatility but also through challenging our expectations in the way we present and view the work.”
Nina said: “I’m super pleased to receive this prize – thanks to John Purcell Paper for the sponsorship. I’m so proud to be part of this fantastic show – everyone in the group worked so hard towards it and it really came together and looked great on the night.”
Nina is hoping to progress to either Slade, Goldsmiths or Camberwell to take up second year BA Sculpture.
The mid-year show ‘Larvatus Prodeo’ took place in March at the College’s Chelsea Centre. Guests enjoyed an exciting mix of painting, sculpture, video and installation.
Speaking about the course, Nina added: “It has been brilliant so far. In just over one term I’ve been able to explore and expand my ideas across many disciplines, in both traditional and new media. The tuition and facilities at the College have enabled me to develop a body of work I’m really proud of.”
