Performing Arts Foundation Courses

Performing Arts Foundation Courses

One of the primary aims of all the 1 year foundation courses is to introduce students to the fundamental principles of their chosen subject area. Sessions are designed to ground students in technique, support them to develop a range of skills that will encourage self-awareness, discipline for the art at the same time as further develop their individual potential both technically and artistically. As well as gaining confidence and performance experience students will gain a level of theoretical understanding to support them to become 'thinking performers'. Students will also gain a range of transferable skills that will support progression into dance, drama or singing programmes in Higher Education.

Emphasis is placed on developing students understanding of the modes of performance analysis and exploration of physical and reflective skills.

Students will have the opportunity to work with, and learn from, academics, visiting practitioners/artist and experienced professionals who will support their journey into higher education or the world of work.

Former students have progressed to major dance conservatoires and drama schools including departments of theatre and performing arts in reputable universities – See fact sheet
