Robert Bloomfield - Photography
Bruce Tanner
Robert first began taking pictures as an art student and, after graduating, found that a photographer was much in demand by the artists and sculptors at his shared studios in Leeds.
He went on to work professionally as a photographer for many of the major galleries and museums in the north of England. He returned to London to study for a Masters in Image and Communication at Goldsmiths College. He continues to take photographs for artists and performers in London, and says about his own work, 'I am trying to satisfy my curiosity about what might lie under the surface of the photograph (just paper apparently), how the world can be so flat, and how to make a series of photographs that all look different but are really all the same.'
He has been teaching at Kensington and Chelsea College since January 2009.
