Helen Wiggins

Helen Wiggins (42) was born in Australia and came to England in May 2003.

Helen worked as an Accounts Payable Supervisor for a restaurant group before realising that her heart did not lie in accounts but in the care of the elderly. Helen has lived close to the College for some time and decided to enquire about courses and careers in the healthcare arena which led to her commencing the Level 2 NVQ Health and Social Care course in September 2008. Helen says of her course, "I have found my course enjoyable and I like being able to relate my college lessons to my practical work placement. I loved my placement as I was able to work with some very dedicated people who were more than willing to share their knowledge and experience with me. This placement has inspired me to set my sights on completing a nursing degree and I know that I have made the right career choice". Helen completed her practical experience at Kensington Day Centre under the expert guidance of Tony Peters, the centre manager.

Of her Tutor and NVQ Assessor Helen says "They have both been very approachable, patient and helpful".

Helen is currently applying for a Healthcare Assistant post at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and will be applying for a place on the college Access to Nursing course in September 2009 before moving onto University to study a nursing degree. Asked whether she would recommend the college to other people Helen replied "I would recommend the college as it provides a wide range of courses for people who wish to change their career or to develop their skills and interests".
