Zeenat Nawaz
Zeenat Nawaz completed the Early Years Foundation Degree at Kensington and Chelsea College and has since gained a job as a Nursery Teacher working in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
Zeenat was given the support and encouragement needed to pursue a higher education course at the college despite her initial reservations about being able to cope with exam pressures. Having overcome her personal barriers Zeenat is now enjoying a career in teaching.
Zeenat said: 'The lecturers and students on the course were all very supportive. We were able to share ideas, thoughts and experiences in a confidential atmosphere. It was at this time through class discussions I became aware that, I can have my own opinion, which is not the same as every one else and sometimes we just have to agree to disagree. I am now in my third year as a Nursery Teacher. The Foundation Degree gave me the opportunity to be able to make career choices, which I would not have been able to do without a degree. I've also made friends along the way, which include fellow students and lecturers.'
