Teacher Training Courses
Get into Teaching!
There are many reasons why teaching is an increasingly popular choice of career for a wide range of skilled and talented people. Teaching is a rewarding profession in more ways than one, offering fantastic career prospects and development opportunities in addition to competitive financial benefits.
In this section you can find out what a career in teaching has to offer, and learn about the routes available if you want to begin a career in teaching.
As of September 2007 a new teacher qualifications framework was introduced by the Department for Education and Skills for those teaching or wishing to teach in the Learning and Skills Sector. This includes further education colleges, sixth form colleges, adult and community learning and offender learning.
We have a range of teacher training courses focussing on specific areas of learning. All programmes will enable students to progress towards Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) and open the gate to employment in the teaching of adults.
Your choice of course will depend on whether you are already in a teaching role with teaching hours. Candidates interested in becoming teachers in the sector but without teaching hours may be suitable for the PTLLS award. Those candidates who already have teaching hours in the lifelong learning sector and who wish to attain Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status will be required to enrol on the DTLLS programme.
Would you like to learn how to teach foreign languages to adults and gain a nationally recognised teaching qualification? This course provides an introduction for those new to teaching and training or those wishing to teach modern foreign languages to adults. Upon successful completion you can progress to the Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector. The course is suitable for those who work or want to work as language teachers, providing they are qualified/experienced in the subject they intend to teach.
