  • Certificate in Teaching English to Adults CELTA ( 11XTT750 )

    Level 4

    Qualification

The CELTA, Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults, with PTLLS is an internationally recognised teaching qualification awarded by Cambridge ESOL. This course is suitable for you if you have little or no previous teaching experience. The PTLLS element is a 6 credit initial award embedded in the 120 hour CELTA course. With the CELTA with PTLLS programme, you complete some additional assessment in order to meet PTLLS requirements, giving you a good base from which to enter employment. Successful completion of the CELTA will allow you to progress directly to Module 2 of the Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector ESOL. On the course you will receive instruction on methods of teaching language and the analysis of English language for teaching purposes. Teaching practice is an integral part of the course and you will teach 6 hours at two different levels. Your teaching will be observed by your tutor and fellow trainees. After teaching you will be given verbal and written feedback and your tutor will support you in planning your next lesson. Assessment on the course is based on your teaching practice and 4 written assignments. These assignments will be on the practical aspects of teaching and altogether require no more than 3,000 words. In order to be successful on the course you must attend at least 88% of the course, complete all the assignments and reach the required standard in your teaching practice.
