Claire Hynds is a London based printmaker who has exhibited throughout London and the UK and has work in collections at the V&A and the National Museum and Gallery of Wales. A lecturer at Kensington and Chelsea College, Claire divides her time between this and her studio at the East London Printmakers, Hackney.
With a particular interest in etching, Claire’s research has largely been focused on an investigation into portraiture. Using both traditional printmaking techniques and new developments in photomechanical intaglio printmaking, she created an extensive body of work that questions traditional notions within this genre. The pinnacle of this research is a series of large-scale photogravures that explore the rich blacks and subtle hues this process offers.
