The Foundation Degree in Early Years at Kensington and Chelsea College is run in collaboration with Kingston University at Level 4 and Level 5. All students attend college for one day per week between 3pm and 9.30pm on a Thursday. The programme provides a unique approach for work based learners to gain a degree qualification, combining theoretical academic study and work to enhance and deepen knowledge and improve practice.
The Foundation Degree in Early Years leads to a number of possible pathways.
•BA (Hons.) in Early Years Education and Leadership Practice
•BA (Hons.) in Early Years Teaching and Learning
•BA (Hons.) in Children’s Special Educational Needs and Inclusive Practice (0-19 years)
•BA (Hons.) in Child Centred Inter-Professional Practice (0-19)
To apply for the course, you must meet the following criteria:
You will have an appropriate Level 3 qualification such as the Diploma in Child Care and Education or Early Years, NNEB, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
You must be employed or working voluntary in an Early Years setting for at least 16 hours per week. Course work and assignments will require you to be working at a level where you are fully involved with curriculum planning, supporting Special Educational Needs, working with parents and all aspects of Early Years Care and Education.
You will have at least 1 year post qualifying experience in a relevant early year’s setting. In some cases, significant experience in employment prior to achieving Level 3 may be taken into consideration. You can apply through the UCAS website available at https://www.ucas.com
